❓Why
I experienced this race as a runner in the pastin different formats; berglauf. Now it was time to give back to the runnes. Sometimes I helped here and there in some race but this was going to be the most serious volunteering experience I had until the moment. I committed to 4 days and given that we were a bit tight it mean long journeys and it ended up with 95% of the whole loop swiped.

👥 Social fitness
The multi-stage set up is designed for enjoying the whole tour with daylight in the meantime you build social links and share the experience with a group. You will embarque with a group of runners and a crew on a 4 days adventures around Monterosa massif. By the end of this for 4 days you will have connected with people that you will carry in your memories later on.
You will get the first chance chance to meet people from around the world before the race. The small town of Grächen dresses for race and you will smell Trail runners everywhere.
At the end of the stage you will have the chance to meet other runners and some crew members in the arrival area. Later you will continue to meet them after a shower and in the restaurants of the town 🏘️ where the dinner is given.
As a volunteer I experienced to meet many runners and as well supporting staff from the huts along the route and representatives of the alpine areas where the race pass through. Mountain community is great and will reward you with an excellent Italian expresso ☕😋.
💪 Physical fitness
Race starts and you might start focus on getting to the end of the stage as fast as possible or simply… just making it till the end with enough energy for the remaining long days ahead, in any case your legs are going to feel it.
Figures are challenging, but reality is… that is even tougher. Terrain is not easy, plenty of trails where every step 👣 counts and the pain of your legs will be only waived by the rewarding views, the people around you, or the absolute silent of the surroundings.
Race goes quite high in average, so altitude can be a factor as well as alpine dangers and challenging weather conditions. It will definitively make you stronger, whatever your running background is, or your approach to the race.
🧠 Mental fitness
You will experience time of loneliness in wild nature and… you might need to do some stop to catch up air or let your legs recover… you can sit on a rock, inhale, exhale, inhale, exhale and just make those seconds longer while you mind focus on the landscape around.
Your days will be fill with basics… run, eat, sleep and repeat 🔄.
